Above the Dreamless Dead

The Epic Library Read Book 3

--World War I Trench Poetry in comic book form--

Poetry is not one of my faves, nor are comics, but this book was so unique that I could not help but be interested.  I had no idea there was such a thing as trench poetry but plan on reading more here.

The Big Crafty, Bookstore and Oatmeal Porter

We went to Asheville this weekend for an overnight trip and to go to The Big Crafty.

I bought this air plant necklace from Kambra/Arts Alive!
It's on a loooong chain and I love it!!
 I hope I don't kill it!

I also bought an air plant goody from Anja Bartels Porcelain.  It is going to live on my fridge but is hanging out for a bit on the big metal hot mess rooster.

There were lots of good things I didn't buy..can't stop thinking about this:

so I might have to buy online.

Some of our favorite vendors:
Wolly Press
Spotted Dog Farm
Fun Lola's Workshop
qwrkydirt
RoseGrown
Seed & Sky Jewelry
Shannon Newlin

The Big Crafty trip fulfills 1/2 of #70 in my 99 in 999 challenge.

Then we found a bazillion zines here at this "new to me" place - Downtown Books and News.

I am amazed at how we ALWAYS find some "new to us" business/restaurant when we go to Asheville.  It's an adventure!

Dinner was at Outback.  I drank a Highland Oatmeal Porter to start working on #12 in my 99 in 999 challenge.

It may kill me, but I'm going to force myself to try a pale ale at some point...

This sad thing was found outside of the mall.  Pretty much how Isabelle and I felt after shopping the Bath and Body Works Candle Sale this weekend!

The Celts

The Epic Library Read Book 2

The Celts by Frank Delaney

I thoroughly enjoyed this book even though, at times, I felt it was challenging to read.  I had to make sure I was fully awake or else I was re-reading through sections to understand.  Chocked full of information, this book kept me continually going to the internet to do further research.  These three topics stood out to me:

2017 UFO Challenge

Each month is assigned a number.  This month is the number 6 which is the Irish Chain Lap Quilt.  I started this quilt March 2016.  I doubt I will finish this within the month, but at least I will make a dent.  UFO Challenge sheet and challenge details found here.  There is also a facebook page to join...lots of wonderful projects being completed!

Blocks Catch Up Day

I'm loving these challenges!  My goal this year is to play with color and practice my machine piecing skills.  Both of these challenges will end in a quilt...maybe.  I seem to be really drawn to little quilts right now and I can see these blocks, especially these 365 blocks, being the beginnings of little quilts.  I'm going to commit to waiting until all the blocks are done before I decide though.  I'm also thinking about joining a photography club in hopes of learning how to take better photos.  Because, really....I stink at it!!
